Machiavelli Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 28, 2026
Machiavelli is a card game. This policy explains what the app collects and why. In short: almost nothing, and nothing is sold or used for advertising.
Solo play
Games against computer opponents run entirely on your device. Your chosen display name is stored only on your device.
Online play with friends
When you create or join a room, the app signs you in as an anonymous guest. We store:
- a random guest ID for your device,
- the display name you choose, and
- game data needed to run your games: rooms, seats, cards and moves.
We do not collect your email, phone number, contacts, location, or advertising identifiers. This data is used only to run multiplayer games. It is never sold, shared for advertising, or used to track you.
Nearby play
Nearby games connect directly between players using Google Nearby Connections. Your display name, game actions, and the cards you are allowed to see are exchanged with the other phones at your table. Nearby games do not use our online backend or require internet access. Each player confirms a matching connection code before joining. Bluetooth and local-network permissions are used for discovering and connecting to nearby players; we do not read your contacts or location coordinates.
Keep the app open while playing. Nearby game state and temporary reconnect identifiers are held in memory and are not uploaded to our servers. Board-style preferences are saved on your device.
Where data is stored
Online game data is stored with our hosting provider, Supabase, on servers in the United States, and is encrypted in transit.
Deleting your data
Open the app, tap Play with Friends, then Delete my online data. This permanently removes your guest account and all rooms and games tied to it. You can also contact us to request deletion.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
